Stephens | Beneath This Name
Role: Director of Photography
Stephens Inc. approached our team to create a nationally-televised commercial that showcases their global financial reach. As Director of Photography, I put together crews in Little Rock, AR to help fill a trading room floor and create a family conference room for the founders of Stephens. I also acquired FAA permissions to fly my drone around the beautiful Stephens Inc. building over four days, leading to the magnificent range of weather conditions used in this piece.
7-Eleven - Cleat Crew
Role: Producer/Editor
7-Eleven needed to promote their 2023 Cleat Crew program. Our team came together to create What To Watch For, a series featuring ESPN's Molly McGrath highlight a game of the week. My role involved writing the scripts, filming and directing Molly over two separate shoot days, and post-supervising the project. The final videos were part of a larger "Cleat Crew" campaign that ran that ran through the 2023 College Football season.
The James Beard Foundation - 2024 Leadership Award Series
Role: Producer/Director of Photography
As part of the annual James Beard Awards, our team is tasked with putting together short documentary pieces to highlight the award winners. In 2024, I earned the Director of Photography role for the Leadership Award series. This series highlights community leaders and activists making a positive change in our world through food. Mai Nguyen was one of five leaders we highlighted during the awards ceremony.
Chicago Blackhawks - Soup and a Sandwich
Role: Editor, Director of Photography
The Chicago Blackhawks came to us wanting a quick, funny, and potentially viral series featuring two of their top personalities, Artemi Panarin and Brian Campbell. Thus, Soup and a Sandwich was born. With a low budget and a short amount of time to film, we leaned heavily into the low budget look of many Adult Swim TV shows, with an editing style to match. All four episodes were heavily promoted by the Chicago Blackhawks, even putting up a billboard along one of Chicago's main highways to promote its release.
The James Beard Foundation - 2023 America's Classics - Manago Hotel
Role: Producer/Director of Photography
Along with highlighting the high-end restaurants of major cities, the James Beard Foundation loves to focus on the family-owned, community anchoring restaurants found in all corners of the country. In 2023, I had the pleasure of traveling to Hawaii to produce and shoot at the Manago Hotel, the longest continually-running restaurant in the whole state. I was able to showcase the tight-knit community of Captain Cook, along with the story of the Manago family and the generations who have devoted their lives to this staple of the community.
The James Beard Foundation - 2024 America's Classics - Pheasant Restaurant and Lounge
Role: Director of Photography
I was ecstatic to be brought back on as the director of photography for the America's Classics series in 2024. This time, we traveled to Brookings, SD to film the first James Beard award winner from the Dakotas, Pheasant Restaurant and Lounge. It was wonderful to capture the generations of family members and see the progression of the restaurant, while still retaining the character and hospitality of the first owners. The Johnsons were amazing hosts who truly cared about their community, and I think the video really shows it.
APP - AARP US Champions Cup
Role: Director of Photography, Editor
The APP (Association of Pickleball Players) hosted the largest tournament for senior players in the country, and I was able to put together a recap for the event. Over two days I covered four different events, along with general atmosphere of the environment and getting my drone in the air for some beautiful shots of the facility. This recap was edited within a day of the tournament finishing and aired on broadcast during the next APP Major Event.
Chicago Blackhawks - Making Strides
Role: Producer, Director of Photography, Editor
Making Strides was a three part docu-series to promote the Chicago Blackhawks "First Strides" program. This program went into local Chicago schools to teach hockey to students who may not have the resources to start on their own. We followed Dayanara and Michael as they grew from beginners to stepping onto the ice in full gear.
IDEAL Industries - ETCS - How-To Finals
Role: Director of Photography
ETCS is an annual trades competition to help celebrate the best tradespeople in the country. In 2023, I was the director of photography for their "How-To" segments that played both in-competition and during the broadcast. The piece needed to be concise, visually appealing, and able to dictate the correct instructions. A fun one-day shoot in an empty warehouse led to this piece, which aired on CBS during the ETCS broadcast.
What Weddings For A Wrestler Are Like
Role: Director of Photography
A crazy, over-the-top sketch involving WWE-style wrestlers, over 50 extras, and a church with no working power. This sketch was filmed over an eight-hour span in early 2024, and is still one of the best set experiences I've ever had. Even with that many extras, we ran a slim crew of just two cameras and a director to make this piece work. Incredibly happy with the final result.
Dave’s Hot Chicken - Reaper Roulette
Role: Producer, Director
We were tasked with creating a 60 second piece for Dave’s Hot Chicken that could advertise their new Reaper flavor in a fun and creative way. We also had access to some of the best college basketball players to star in the piece. Enter “Reaper Roulette”, where one lucky (or unlucky) player bites into the delicious but terribly spicy sandwich. Hilarity ensues. This piece originally aired nationally on ESPN during the 2024 College Slam special.
Houston Outlaws Homestand Recap
Role: Cinematographer, Editor
The Houston Outlaws are a professional esports team, specializing in the game Overwatch. In February of 2020, they hosted their first ever Homestand, where teams from all over the globe came to compete in downtown Houston. A sold out crowd supporting their hometown team made for an exciting and energizing event, and the shooting and editing style followed that same feeling.
The James Beard Foundation - 2023 Taste America
Role: Producer
Taste America is a program meant to highlight up-and-coming chefs from 20 different cities around the country. In 2024, I was given the role of Producer to create a fun, exciting way to promote the chefs. I loved the idea of motion and boxes in the final edit, pushing our post-production team to find ways to always keep the frame in motion. The client was ecstatic with the results, leading to twenty fun and unique events around the country.
ETCS - Automotive Feature - David Bohr
Role: Producer
Along with the actual competition, ETCS features short documentary pieces on each of the contestants. As producer, I was sent to rural Ohio to meet David Bohr and tell the crowd a little about what makes him tick. A fantastic trip meeting David, working with a local Lima, OH crew, and ending the shoot at David's Moose Lodge. This piece aired during the ETCS broadcast on CBS.
Wilson Sports Grigor Dimitrov Racket Customization
Role: Editor
Wilson Sports wanted to showcase their customization abilities, and what better way than to bring in a star tennis player like Grigor Dimitrov to make his own racket on camera. Our goal was to allow for Grigor's personality to shine through while also showing the hard work and dedication the Wilson team puts into every racket.
James Beard Foundation “A Regional Taste” Series
Role: Producer, Editor, Camera Operator
The James Beard Foundation came to the production team at Intersport in early 2022 looking to highlight five phenomenal chefs from around the United States. As a producer, camera operator, drone operator, and editor, I helped shape the script that highlights the importance of community and inclusion for these amazing chefs. The Washington D.C. video above, featuring chef Angel Barreto, is one of five videos created for this series that aired on the James Beard Foundation and Capital One video channels.
Chicago Cubs - Wrigley Field: A Blueprint For Football
Role: Producer, Director of Photography
The Chicago Cubs and Marquee Productions approached us at Banner Studios to create a half-hour special in the lead up to the Northwestern University vs Purdue University football game. As the producer, I wrote the script, acquired footage from a variety of modern and historical sources, headed the production as the director of photography, and delivered the final piece to Marquee for broadcast. The special aired on Marquee Sports Network in November of 2021.
All Kinds Of Crazy - Dinner
Role: Director of Photography
Working with a skeleton crew of usually just cast and 1-2 crew members, I was able to film many sketches that became the 30 minute short film All Kinds Of Crazy, premiering at the LA FIlm Festival in 2023. Dinner was a series that cut in throughout the film, creating a consistent joke that weaved the whole piece together.
APP - Parris Todd
Role: Director of Photography
The APP was in need of player profile pieces for their upcoming national broadcasts. Working with the Intersport production team, I created a visual style for the player profile pieces, hired crew for the shoot, and lead the production team as the director of photography and A-Cam operator. The piece played nationally on ESPN2 in February 2023.
Elevance Health - Fort Myers Tip Off - Impact Fitness Foundation
Role: Post-Producer/Editor
Elevance Health's commitment to health equity led to a partnership with the Impact Fitness Foundation. I was brought in to help bring together footage from multiple cameras and organizations and create a cohesive piece to be used during halftime of the Fort Myers Tip-Off (airing on FS1). Working closely with the client, I wrote the script, edited the piece, and brought in a voiceover artist to bring the piece to life. The piece was delivered early to the broadcast team, and continues to live on the Elevance Health social channels.
